Trying to cross reference is MEP-004 and MEP-006 can use the same voltage regulator assembly.

Part number of unit I pulled from MEP-004 was 30554-70-4145

Unit from MEP-006 is a 30554-70-1367

Darn close and maybe only a version or year difference in part number - anyone know for sure?

Not even close partner. The difference between apples and oranges.

I took a look at the MEP-004A, 15 KW parts manual. The volt regulator (figure 33, item 76) has a completely different part number, then the one you listed. I looked the part number up in the back of the TM and there is no such number.

I looked up the MEP-006A, 60 KW volt regulator. I found that you have listed the part number for the whole static exciter, not the volt regulator.

So just to cover all bases, I looked everything up in the MEP-005, 30 KW TM. Nothing there. The MEP-004 and MEP-005 are very similar, but no dice. Can't find any of your part numbers.

BUT, the MEP-004A, 15KW and MEP-005A, 30KW are identical in this respect. You can move the whole Static exciter or volt regulator from one to the other, no problem.

So just were are you looking up your part numbers?

Interesting: I pulled the 30554-70-4145 from a working MEP-004 but it was clearly a replacement. You never know with these surplus units if they have been messed with. Was not obvious till I went to pull it.
I’ve got a spare on an 005 but found several 006 assemblies for sale at good prices.

I wonder what the -4145 is for?

Bimota,

TM-9-6115-464-24P, Figure 34, no item number, is listed with the NSN: 6115-00-363-3957, Static Exciter, PN: 72-2601
TM-9-6115-464-24P, Figure 34, item number 76, is listed with the NSN: 6115-00-363-3973, Regulator, voltage, PN: 72-2616

These fit both the MEP-004A and MEP-005A. Look for both.

The Tm9-6115-464-34 has repair and test info for Exciter/volt regulator. There are some pretty sharp guys here in the forum who could fix item.

The static exciter and volt regulator were both recoverable items. So if you buy one, make sure they test it before you pay, of give you a guarantee. A kazillion were turned in as unserviceable. I often got 10-20 exciters from the DRMO here in Kaiserslautern, Germany and then sat down to make a few good ones, from the batch lot.

If you know someone with access to FEDLOG, they can look up the part number -4145 and it has a usable on section that will list all items that the -4145 was used on. Anyone here got an old copy? Or if you know someone in the Guard/Active Duty?
