Monstaliner or anything better?

Hey,

I'm interested in improving the amount of noise in the truck. To do this I was thinking of getting the X Doors. Additionally, I was thinking of taking the seats out and lining with Monstaliner. Has anyone done anything like it or have any recommendations/thoughts?

I did Lizard Skin Sound Insulation, Lizard Skin Ceramic Insulation, and Monstaliner inside my truck. I decided I didn't want the factory insulation pads based on how much dirt and water I found my old ones holding when I got the truck. I don't mind dirt and mud inside the truck, I just didn't want to keep it in there.

The body is now very free of creaks and rattles and doesn't sound like sitting inside of a garbage can when driving. It's still a bit loud due to an exhaust leak I need to fix and I've been running it with the doors and top off but, I'd bet with with the same treatment I did and something like Dynamat or even Lizard Skinning the X-doors, it would be an improvement.

I do think I may be installing some thermal mat on the underside of the truck at some point since, although the Lizard Skin Ceramic does a good job of cutting temps, areas like the sides of the dog house and floor of the drivetrain tunnel up front still get a bit warm.

Total cost of all 3 products was around $1,000 to do the whole tub. 4 gallons of both Lizard Skin products each and 3 gallons of Monstaliner.

Also, Monstaliner can color match for Green 383 and Tan. They have the formulations but they aren't listed on their site. Just give them a call.

I've got a lot more pics in my album. Feel free to poke around.

The prep was by far the worst part. The Lizard Skin needs a light scuffing and vacuum out before the Monstaliner is applied. And make sure you do all of the Monstaliner at once or you'll have even more prep work you'll have to do. I was a gallon short since they thought 2 should be enough for my whole tub. It wasn't. If the colored Monstaliner cures past a certain time, you have to scuff it up to get the next layer to adhere properly and even then, you could end up with adhesion issues if you aren't very through. So just make sure you have a full 3 gallons of it when you start so you won't run into that problem.

Also, if you go with Lizard Skin, get the application kit. You can use a plain old schutz gun but the Lizard Skin gun gives you much more adjustment on the application so you can texture how you like.

It was a lot of work and I had never spray applied a product with an air compressor but in the end it was very worth it. I've gotten a number of compliments on the interior specifically when I've been out and about with the truck.

I'd put total prep work for all products in the neighborhood of 16 hours. About half of which was masking and prepping the initial surface (pressure washing, scuffing, acetone wipe) for the Lizard Skin Sound Control which has to go down first.
