A member here makes a overdrive kit to get more speed, you can put on bigger tires. Overson makes new gears for the rockwells that arnt cheap. Or you can put a new engine in that revs higher.

Yeah, the 6.71 R&P really murders any speed you can get. The OD gear set is the best(cheapest) way to go for speed.

Some trucks come factory with the fuel way down. You can bump it a little till you get a slight smoke from the stack while driving. Any more and you'll want a pyro.

if i turn the fule up a little bit you think i can get a steddy 55mph out of it if i can get that ill be happy
Definitely install a Pyro. 55 on the flats is easily doable. I have my fuel turned up as safely as I can. My truck will slow down to about 40mph on a 6% grade. Before I did the fuel it was 25mph up the same hill.

I have apyro on my M54a2. I also have an overdrive trans in it. The truck would go almost 68 mph. before I toasted the engine. We rebuilt the engine put a new Ip on it and added the pyro. The pyro lets you know when you are getting dangerously close to heating up the pistons. It sure chages your driving habits. She is a dog now, but it is all rebuilt and will probably out last me. I'm back to just over fifty mph flat out. No smoke but no top end. At this age I should be content to just getting there rather than gong for the pole position at the track.

The FIRST thing I would do is MAKE SURE my FUEL FILTERS are CLEAN (close to NEW, if not NEW), any good running and well maintained deuce without being tricked should run 50 or a bit more, heck when I drove Jims LOADED deuce to Wi, it did 50+ except STEEP grades, it was not turned up and on 900s and a VERY well maintained deuce.

If people keep there filters close to NEW and NOT wait till thay are about 100% plugged to change, and keep the TOP END adjusted correctly, thay would be AMASED by the performance of there deuce
