I bought this 43 GPW Dec 2015, blew the tranny on Christmas day and went right into a marathon tranny and engine rebuild. Had her up and running on May 13th 2 days befor her 73rd birthday. I have wanted one of these since I was 10 years old and can't get enough of driving her.Evans Creek 2016_06 (2).jpg

Nice Jeep. I had a 43 MB when I was a kid. Wish still had it, but it was rusty even then. Good to see anther one saved.

I also went with 15 in CJ rims and the largest stock tire that would fit the rim. Looks similar to what you have anyway. Probably the best and easiest modification to make them more road (and off road) worthy.

I was really surprised to see that it did 10 miles over the guage with those oversized tires. Im doing 50 when it says 40. I couldn't imagine trying to get around anywhere at only 35 or 40 max speed. Ive had her up to 60. I need to replace the pitman arm shaft. It's a little wobbly. I rebuilt the steering box, its tight as a... oh nvm.

I have a 1942 GPW I just finished restoring. I was grinning from ear to ear on the first test drive. Good luck with yours.
