Newbie here, need help checking my installation strategy for a bypass oil filter with my M35A2.
I saw the centrifuge installation, however I was informed to NEVER use the turbo return line to return a bypass oil filter. Can someone verify if the recommended installation has been done before:
Oil Pressure for My Bypass Filter:
• I didn't want to use the oil pressure source - on the oil cooler - seen in the centrifuge installation because I was informed that could be used for a pre-lube pump system in the future (which I am also planning on working on).
• Instead I will use a tee fitting to tee off the oil pressure sending unit. This is my oil pressure line to my bypass oil filter.
Oil Return Strategy:
• The oil will be returned through a 1" 18UNS threaded fitting that will replace my oil drain plug. There is a gasket in the original plug that will be removed and used with my fitting (or with steel washer system).
I was informed that the installation is "easy as that" and I only need to worry about running the hoses correctly and using thread sealant.
Mounting the Filter:
• I actually need some help coming up with ideas for where to mount this filter. The filter can work in any position (sideways and even upside down) and comes with a bracket.
- The housing size is 4.5" wide and 6.25" inches tall.
– The bracket is 4.88" wide and 3.25" tall, and it allows me to swivel the filter in any direction within 90 degrees - it can also be mounted upside down.
Has anyone ever installed a bypass oil filter before? I would love to see an installation.
Thanks in advance!
