My first dent in my trailer. Boo who.

I got my first dent in the rear tailgate today. I was backing up to straighten my trailer and backed in to the house. Ouch. I was so mad
But my husband was very understanding. He held me in his arms and laugh hard. He said not to worry a little camo paint and you will never see it.
Im a lucky girl. The house is fine and it's only missing a little paint.

Next time I will keep looking in the mirror that hubbys in....

That is why I have a Pintle hitch on both ends.Watched wreckerman push a M105 400 yards through a gate 12" wider than a deuce,down a hill,90 degree to teh right and right beside another M105 without much of a problem.....No poles or trucks were injured in this act....this time.....

Pain is right. If you pass gass while backing you could jack knife it. Now thats a great idea both ends Thanks FT. I will get to finding one right now.

Didn't your trailer come with the warning placard that says:
DO NOT FART WHILE BACKING!

only downside I found about mounting a bumper hitch is the M105 won't go high enough to hook up without help.Trailer is 2-3 inches too low.But......that was found out after I put 11.00R20 radials on it.....so.......

I have 900-20's so it should be OK. Just bought my hitch on e bay 46.000 GVW hitch new. 75 bucks. Hey Doc I just spray painted that on the bumper of my truck to remind me. Thanks Warning signs are a good thing no?

Moral of story: Pay close attention to Hubby in mirror.

Aside from the "not farting when backing" warning, I find that low range is your friend when backing in a tight spot. Of course the house might get pushed off its foundation if you don't stop in time.......

Talking to WWII Vets, most trucks at that time had one, very small round mirror on the drivers side, nothing on the passenger side. When I ask about backing a truck back then, they all say the same thing.....

Flipping the bumper over would help several inches.When I get a good straight bumper I will have to mount it winch style and then mount my pintle hook.

Yes, a front mounted pintle is the only way to back a trailer into a tight spot.

Backing trailers

Someplace in the PS magazines there is an article that shows how to build a bracket that used the two brackets for the lifting shackles on the front bumper to mount a removable pintle hitch that can be moved from truck to truck.

Very handy item. I always move my trailers from the front bumper! Just be sure to close the hitch. I have up ended a loaded trailer that was tail heavy.

Note to you young guys and gals. The big 6 and 7 ton trucks in WWII had a pintle hitch under the front bumper standard from the factory. How we forget.

Thanks for the Pictures. I will send some when I get the mount installed. Thanks for not hammering me to hard. I feel like a rookie. The trailer is so short and Im use to driving a 40 foot bus that i can see all the way down the side. This little thing hides behind Momma.

nothing to be ashamed of long wide truck short narrow trailer makes anyone have a hard timeplus no power steering doesnt help i would rather back a 40ft trailer with a deuce with mirrors than back a 105 with a deuce with the best mirrors
