I bought a M35A3 yesterday off of a very nice guy in Michigan...a 76 year old MVPA member and Army veteran that the truck was getting a bit too much for.
I arranged to have it hauled on a flatbed to me due to the distance.
I will post some pictures after I receive it. I drove up to check it out, drive it, and loved it.
I bought the A3 so that my dad (aqe 77), who is a 25 year vet of the USMC could also enjoy it. There is no way he could depress the clutch on an A2 at this point due to some medical issues, or probably steer it (although he would say different). I wish I could have made it 25 but I was too soft according to him![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Everything was functional including the CTIS and the truck is very clean. Troop seats, cargo cover. Its a woodland camo truck. Tires are 75% or better, spare is brand new. All gauges and lights operational. A little over 9000 miles. He had already had filters and fluids changed upon recovering it from GL.
I plan on going through everything, changing fluids, filters, and a full inspection. Probably have a CAT mechanic do the 500 hour service as well and check everything out. Probably flush the tranny and switch to ATF fluids.
Looking forward to it. I obtained a clean MI title and bill of sale from him so hopefully all will go well titling and registering in OH.
I downloaded the TM's and have been reading a lot of the forum topics lately.
This site has helped me very much to date. I met one member, 11echo, already who took the time to show me his trucks, take me for an off road ride, and explain some things about the A2 vs A3 to me. I have also PM'ed with several other members about a vast array of things.
Hoping everythiing goes as planned and it arrives safely
Not sure who's more exited....kids or me...or Dad. (Disclaimer...no I don't live with my Dad
)
Pictures to follow after I get it unloaded.
Thanks to all that have helped and lookingh forward to an A2 someday.
