Need Fuel Filter Advice

I am having to change my primary fuel filter today. The Napa filter I purchased seems narrower and definitely shorter than the original and has no cone in it. Will the fact that it is shorter and skinnier have a negative effect on the fuel system and running of the truck? Does the filter have to fit tight inside and go all the way to the top? Please advise. I need to get it changed today and can swap it out later if necessary but I have to have it running today.

If its the 3511, thats what you are supposed to have.

Its the 3511 but Im guessing that its only about 4 inches tall and not as wide or tall as whats in it currently. The one thats in it fills the can. Also there is no cone it there that I have heard people speaking about. I just dont want to screw up! Thanks

Here's a post with a picture from the -20P TM. Be sure your assembled correctly and not missing any parts, and the NAPA filter will work just fine.

The filter that is in it appears it may be the ceramic or washable because there is no element material or paper. Its white in color and hollow in the middle. Can I contiue to use it and how should I wash it or clean it. It appears to be bright and clean. Just crap in the bottom of the housing.

I use carb/brake cleaner on my re-usable filters. Same deal, taller with white filter media. If you look at the bottom of the filter, it is recessed so the top and bottom are basically the same height as the 3511.

Cool, thats whats in the one I have. I will return the one I bought to NAPA and use that one. It looks absolutely new.

I would recommend keeping the 3511 in the cab "just in case". Never know when you will get crud in your fuel.

Thats what it looks like. I decided to keep the other one as suggested. Having two deuces and not knowing when or if they will plug up I am going to keep it in the case of emergency when the parts store is closed.

I drain mine filters every couple weeks. It gives me a good idea of what is coming out of the tank. If you keep your fuel tank full and run diesel only there is little chance it will clog. CSI has the rewashable ones but there almost $100.

Jimma, I have the Primary spin-on adaptors anytime you wnt them, They use the correct, drainable water separator/primary filters too. John T out
