It worked..tranny tip inside

I am pulling my tranny in my 1009 tomorrow. The flywheel has a bald spot. My plan is to put longer bolts in the bottom 2 holes , and with a transmission jack, slide the tranny straight back enough to remove the flywheel while the tranny stays lined up. I am at work on a 24 hour shift, and forgot to bring a bolt with me. Does anyone know the size/pitch and length of the bottom 2 bolts on a 6.2/ th400 combo? Thanks.

3/8 course thread, think 1.25 or 1.5 long. Dont think theres enough firewall to bellhousing room to do that but I may be wrong.

I am not sure if there is enough room either, thought that I could tilt the whole drivetrain down a little to gain clearance. Thanks for the thread info, it will save me a trip back to town in the morning.

I just pulled the flywheel in about 2.5 hours ( and I am an average home mechanic), I used 4" long bolts and the tranny slid far enough staight back to allow room to get the bolts out of the flywheel/crankshaft. Everything looks lined up perfect, hanging on the bolts, what an easy way compared to dropping the whole unit. I will pick up the flywheel in the morning, and can't see any reason that it won't slide back together without issue. I will update tomorrow afternoon. I think this could have been done with a regular floor jack.:)
