Need help on Identifying an M38A1

I am looking for someone that knows a lot about M38A1's I am looking at purchasing a jeep but not sure what I am getting. It looks every bit like an M38A1 with the exception of the back end of it. If I sent someone an e-mail with a picture can they tell me if it is an M38A1 or something else before I buy it.

Me, too. If it has a tailgate cut out, it may have been a M38A1C, or if it is on a 101 inch wheelbase it is a M170 Ambulance maybe.

Check for a data plate on the front of the rr wheel well inside at the passenger's right elbow..usually painted over.

I, too need some help. I have a SN 57148 87639. Is it an M38A1 or a CJ-5?
