Need info on correct paint (GPW/GPA)

I'm not an expert on the subject, but whats the deal so many OD green vs. Ford Grey painted engines? I've seen both paint colors used and I'm confused as to which of them are period correct. Was it clear cut across the board? Was there a certain product allotment where it changed and one color was chosen over another?

Specifically, I have a 43 GPA engine I'm looking to restore period correct, and being newb, I'm trying to educate myself as I am no expect . . .

But we do know the answer here too, Willys engines were OD green and Ford engines were gray.
