Looking for information on the following NSN that I've come to a dead end on. Here is my research so far:

5120-01-232-1215
CLEANER, TERMINAL, PL

I ran the cage and AMDF and come up with

R3 Marketing with a product number of PS-1224
SAFETYLINE.INC with a product number of PS-1224C

It appears this is a cleaning solution for terminal plugs but not sure.

I googled both suppliers and got squat.

Next:
What is the difference between the drop lights NSN:
6230-00-729-9259

and

6230-00-140-1165

The photos I pulled up on the web look the same and the descriptions are basically identical.

Trying to get this or information for these items since they are part of the official company/battalion level maintenance tool set I am assemblying and I'm just about there.

Speaking of which, I need:

I bought a transmission lift at the GA Rally but realized it didn't have the accessories so I need all the items other than the lift itself. I also need the plug for the hydraulic fluid fill cap.

I check ebay regularly but usually the prices are out of my league.

I don't think I took this any further than you, but my read is that the usual style battery terminal cleaner is 5120-01-256-9187. 5120-01-232-1215 may be cleaning fluid can but since the FSC is for Hand Tools, Non-edged, Non-powered which would lead me to think probably not. I wonder if it is a smaller trailer socket cleaner such as the one pictured.

I agree with tcody that the first item will be a hand tool. 5120 is exclusively hand tools, non edged and non powered. (edged tools are 5110 and powered tools and their attachments are 5130) Can't find a better description of the brush. You might try and contact the two companies that supply it. Only problem is it does not appear that the gsa has not made a purchase of this product since about 1998, and the product does not appear on the companies website. Safetyline, Inc. - ANSI Safety Vests & Jackets - Safety Clothing

As to the trouble (drop) lamps, they are interchangeable, and in fact both refer to the same manufacturer's part number. There is often duplication and overlap between NSNs and the commercial numbers which supply them.

I use this site to search NSNs: WebFLIS - Public Search
Once you look up a NSN or part number, you can see what companies supply the product along with their part numbers, and when purchases were made and at what price.

I came up with the same suppliers. Interesting about the plug cleaner. I made the assumption it was a solvent and that locked in my brain. Now I say to myself--DUH!

The drop lamps I thought it might be the awg or something. There is a different drop light authorized in the base maint set that has battery clips. I always found it surprising that was in the base set but not in the battalion/company set----since the battalion/company go to the field and the base stays....on base.

Thanks for the assist. Now if I can just get the last tools I need to complete the set. I never saw a complete maint tool set. I'm confident I'll have one in the near future and will probably be one of the few folks to be able to say they have one.

OK, I now officially feel like an idiot. I was fixated on the thought it was a cleaner, as in solution. The next item in the list is a cleaning solution so I got too focused. It makes a lot of sense now that I see the PS1224 so it's a DUH--PS 12 volt 24 volt in the mfg name.

I see the light.

Thanks

I had another look at the drop lamps, and the 6230-00-140-1165 number is listed as being 250 volt. Otherwise, the descriptions are very close and the spec numbers seem to be the same.

So closed vs open (I guess the cage is open on the front of one but not the other)
Type 1 vs Type 3 (does this mean 110 volt vs 220/240/250 volt)

I need to pay more attention to detail.

Excellent, that is the first picture that I 've seen of that specific version. What a monster.

This is gonna be fun trying to find one of these on the cheap along with the sockets. I spent a lot of time around motorpools and doing inventories many years ago and never saw one like this. Of course it was like I've said, 28 years and never saw a complete common 1 tool set, they were always missing something, even when new. Of course some of the items had to have the commanders approval in order to requisition it.
