Hi all-- after sitting about a year i cant get my M1008 to start. Here is where im at ( I am not very good at reading F-1 or F-3 in the TM so please bear with me)
I ran the truck for years and never had a problem.
It was converted to 12v by the corp of Engineers before i got it. They added a dash mounted solar battery maintainer and Dash mounted "air conditioning "... (also known as an electric fan...)
I put in the dog head
Due to life it sat for a year in a covered dry garage
No hints of mice nesting anywhere
I tried starting it but batteries were mostly dead
So I got 2 new batteries and new plugs
I cleaned the bus bars and the contacts on black diamond and the solenoid
With the key off I get 12.46v at both sides of the black diamond and the terminal it feeds on the solenoid.
I get 12 V at the dog head.
I get 0 at the one side of fuse #20 ( in the TM its #17 engine control fuse)
With the key on the wait light comes on intermittanly ( seems to be controlled by fuse #20)
I only get 1.6v at the diamond and solenoid and around 1.14v at the dog head.
I have not chased the 4 fuseable links that disappear down a loom towards the transmission.
Any thoughts on where to go from here?
Appreciate any input. Happy Memorial Day weekend to all that have served this great country of ours. dave
