New 109 in Montana

My 12yr old son and I are taking a bus to Ft. McCoy on Tuesday to pick up our M109A3. I am new to SS and green iron, but very excited. We are told the pedals are soft so we will need to bleed the breaks, and replace batteries. I am also told that DOT 5 is the proper break fluid. We are then starting the adventure of driving back to Bozeman, Montana. Hopefully, without any major events or issues. Any feedback or suggestions?

I've found the GL staff at Ft. McCoy to be top notch over several visits. I'm sure you'll find the same.
