Hello! My boss just purchased 3 CUCV's. The 84' and 86' Blazer 4x4 and a 86' D30. I am trying to help him get them road ready. I am not a mechanic, just ex Firefighter/engineer/pump operator. I know a little about diesel because the Fire Engine was a cummins with allison tranny. These CUCV's are only 3 gear if I am not mistaken. What is the easiest/cheapest fix to get them on the highway? Whats the best tire/rim formation? Any advice on how to get these to become "every day" trucks?
I appreciate everyone's help in advance!

You will have to define "every day trucks" because that varies greatly among people. If you are looking for something that will cruise 80mph with air conditioning comfort and not put you asleep from the noise, you may want to start with something different. That is going to take a lot of time and money in a CUCV. If you are looking for a basic reliable rig that doesn't have to keep up with the Jones's, then some decent maintenance will get you a rock steady truck.

Hi Skinny,
Thanks for responding. I am definitely looking for basic, reliable and powerful. Would also like to be able to take it on the highway. Is it possible in a CUCV?
