So I've been reading for awhile and I've finally decided I'm ready to start looking for a deuce, so I might as well make the introductory post and introduce myself.
I'm from Seminole, about an hour from OKC. I've been wanting a deuce for awhile, mainly for a toy to work on, but I'm sure I can find a few ways to put it to work as well. I had originally planned on finding an M109 and making a camper but I think I could get a lot more use out of a truck body over a van body. My plans are some 395's on stock wheels to add ground clearance, a little cruising speed, and, to be honest, because they look pretty mean. I'd like to find one with a winch, but thats not a must have.
Are there any places that sell them in Oklahoma for a decent price? I've thought about the GL route, but the EUC wait time and SF97 stuff worries me. A friend bought a m1008 a few years ago and had a hard time titling it. Its worth some money to have one that has had the paper work done. Although the idea of going to recover a truck is pretty exciting, I may not want to do that with no experience on the trucks.
This is getting long, so I'll wind it up with one last question. Is there anyone local to me that has a truck I could come look at? I've never been around one and I'd love to get the opportunity to see one up close and maybe see what things to look for when purchasing. You can read about them until your eyes hurt, but there is no replacement for first hand experience. Thanks for reading and thanks for any information anyone can provide.
