New LMTV

Just read through Pointmans adventure. Lots of good info. Thought I would start a similar thread.

I purchased my LMTV - JuannaGo - outside of Boulder CO. My son and I drove her home mid December. 1200 miles and about 1100 was snow packed roads. The freeway was closed on us in CO just south of the WY border, on I80 in WY and again on I84 at La Grande OR. I've now got some experience on slick roads. Performance isn't that impressive. Truck is lighter on the back and the tires seem very hard rubber. Feels squirrelly.

Had as a coolant hose clamp break on the top of the engine just west of Rawlings WY. Truck started every morning including one morning when it was 10 degrees.

JuannaGo needs better seats and sound deadening. That's all in the works.

CTIS worked perfectly on the trip. More on it later.

Will get pics posted soon. Site was down yesterday. Perhaps I'll have time tomorrow. Returned last week from a five day road trip/shake down cruise through eastern OR. Camped and slept in JuannaGo. She performed admirably.

My my son is busy working away on her. To date he has accomplished the following
sound deadener/dynamat on the engine side of the hump
dynamat in the doors and fabric
thin plywood on the ceiling with the gaps filled with expanding foam insulation then fabric on the plywood
in the process of installing leather seats from a Expedition

already it's quiet enough that the humming tires are LOUD.

Purchase Trip

Excellent pics! How do you have the M1101 trailer setup with the LMTV? I have the same setup with a shelter on my M1102.

the rig was sold with the trailer. My intention is to sell it and buy a trailer designed for the LMTV.

Sure thing. So far the most effective additions have been the fabric on the ceiling and the 3/4" dynamat on the engine side of the hump.

Depends on what you want the trailer for, but I have seen a lot of LMTV's with 1101/1102 trailers hooked to them out here in the JBLM area. That gave me the idea of towing the 1102 behind the M923. Not sure about your trucks overhang, but when you jacknife the trailer on a 923 Cargo, it is about 6 inches too close. Now the trailer has a war story.

The purpose built trailers appeal to me for simplicity. Same tires, CTIS, air, deck height etc.

Using my LMTV as the foundation for a camper it's gonna be small with a 12 foot box. Having a trailer of the same length and height opens the door for all sorts of possibilities.

Has anyone tried to put Dynamat under the cab but on the ​outside under the hump and surrounding area? Would it stand up to weather and heat that it would be exposed to? The inside of my cab is already finished, but I would like to add additional sound deadening.
