Howdy all,
I've been lurking here for a few years and just joined a few weeks ago, I've always wanted to either own a Duece, M715 or a CUCV. But it's always just been more of a dream, the last few years it just wasn't practical for me. But I've had a few changes in my life that are about to make owning a military truck possible now.
In about a month, I'm going to have to start making a 120 mile round trip commute during the week and I've got a buyer for my daily driver(2003 GMC Stepside 4x4). So I'm selling my daily driver and buying a little economy car for the commute, but I've always had a truck so I need to also buy a truck to replace my truck.
I'd love to get a Duece, but don't have the room. I'd also still like to get a M715 but there is enough times I will need a truck at highway speeds, so I don't think a M715 would work out for me. So I'm going to be looking at CUCV's, mainly M1008's. I've owned a few old Chevy's before so I'm familar with them but have never owned a diesel before. So I'll be here asking some questions in the CUCV forum and trying to find out if a CUCV is a good truck for me. I'm also a bodyman/painter by trade so I'm sure I'll frequenting the body/paint forum.
