Hi all
Need some help with my 1030. I got a 1030 about 6 months ago. Have put about 100 hours on it. Worked perfectly. Two days ago went to start and got a failure to crank error. Cleared the error, but still no crank. Battery voltage is good. Cables are tight and appear clean. Tried just for giggles to start with slave, still no go. Looking for suggestions? Neighbor has an 803a and thought it might be a low oil pressure error shut it off, but the only error was the crank error. Went through the manual several times, but I didn't find any information other than the start switch needed to be turned on for longer than 1 second to avoid that situation.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks

Hi, yes. I got the entire manual in paper with the generator. Went through that section several times. I don't think there is more than 4 subsections under failure to crank. Was.hoping

Was hoping to find some diagnostic info. I think I have found the issue. It is either a bad starter solenoid or the starter itself. Have power down to the solenoid when switch is turned to start.
Now I need some parts information. Are there kits available to rebuild the solenoid? Sources for the solenoid and perhaps the starter itself? Can off the shelf Kabota parts be used?

Thanks again

Thank you very much. I didn't think the Kabota dealer would have a 24v , but it doesn't hurt to ask. I think I tried the dead crank switch and got nothing. I will check again before ordering another starter.

Check your starter to make sure the connections are good. the bad one i pulled had so much silicone on the connections you would never know untill you pulled the starter out. If you have a good starter/alternator rebuild place in your area and its just the solenoid that could be replaces cheaper than one of these starters. The bad starter i had was twisted up. here is a link to that thread https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/ammps-1030-non-runner-repair.215666/, but as GUY says test test test before throwing parts at it.

Thanks, going to pull it out this weekend. Have to look to see if there is any place that rebuilds them. I live in a small rural area of N Az. Services are pretty limited. You used to find kits to rebuild solenoids. Not so much anymore. A 24v solenoid for this might be all it needs. When I got the 1030, it only had 200 hrs on the gauge. I will post back after removal and test. Thanks again
