NEW ROTOR ON M880, 1977

I need to install a new front rotor on my M880, 1977 model. From anyone's experience are the bearings, seals and rotor the same as the ones used on civilian W200s for 1977. Not sure I have the tools and right procedure to do this myself and a mechanic said some of the military Dodges had odd parts. True or false. How hard is this job to do yourself? Any step by step procedures around.

I'm not 100% positive because I don't own one and haven't done it, but I have always heard they are the same as the civi parts just like the CUCVs. Here's a link to the bearing sets: Bearing set and Saturn Surplus

I just found out that they have the Hub and Rotor assemblies too!. Hope this helps. At least it will give you the parts numbers for what you need and you can x-reference them to the civi parts and see if they are the same.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_cool.gif" alt="Cool">

I was in the red rock job corps and we had a military surplus 77 "adventurer"I had to change the rotor and caliper on the driver side.I did the entire brake system on my 79 civvy W200,the wheel assembley seems the same to me.you might just want to take a good look at the trucks in question and you should be able to figure out if the wheel assemblies are interchangable.as far as a step by step procedure goes a Chilton manual or any other good repair manual which covers the W200 should give you a good idea how to do this.I don't know if this helps you or not,Good luck.

There all the same 75-79 w200 and m880's w/ 3500# front axle. the axle is a Dana 44 FBJ. I just did mine w/ rotors w/ hubs, bearings and seals from Napa. The job is relativly easy. If you need part #'s or have any questions let me know. Good luck and later.

hey Bob. I haave a 1979 dodge 4x4 D150. have you found ant info about
changing the rotor. my right front rotor is bad and i can't get the
front axel and hub apart to replace it. would you share any info you
receive?? i have manual locking huds. this trk was a civlian vechile
used on an air force bas somewhere. need to get trk inspected. rotor

Hey WRC,
why don't you down load the TM 9-2320-266-34 M880 maintenance ml off the LOGSA web site? (It's free.) This is sure to have a step by step procedure for doing this job. Oh and I concur with what the other guys have said. The M880's are just civilian 3/4 ton Dodge trucks with a few pieces of military hardware added. Here's another great manual I recommend dowloading too: TM 9-2320-266-24P. This is a parts catalog that comes complete with diagrams and a list of materials with part numbers and quantity. Get `em both. you'll be glad you have them. <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_thumzup.gif" alt="Thumb Up">

The stuff is most definitely the same as the W200. Not a problem with parts at all. Chilton type manuals are a plus as are the stuff from Logsa. Go for it!
