Hello guys, I've been lurking for a couple years and finally bought my first cucv.

It is an 85 m1008 in woodland ccap, came from the 85th infantry division and has 53k miles
i paid 1800 for her and she seems to be in excellent shape minus the rust.

I am in the process of getting a title for her, and have replaced all the light bulbs, wiper blades etc for inspection to complete registration

the only thing holding me back is the horn, I want to keep it stock. I have the service light switch on, and have checked the horn, connections are cclean when you press the button nothing happens, not even the usual click you would get from under the dash
i took a pic of te fuse box etc and it looks to me like something's are missing. I don't have a clue what I do and can't afford to take it to a shop.

If anybody can point me in the right direction that would be awesome!

pics coming

Sounds like the horn relay is bad. if there is no click id look there or pull the button of the steering wheel ive had that before, gets a little corrosion or dirt in there and doesnt make a good connection.

My phone is acting up
I will get some pics of it uploaded. The steering wheel and button look okay, I've seen worse. I don't think I saw a relay underneath. I have a comparison pic and mine appears to be missing aome

but everything works on the truck, just no horn

im not anywhere near my truck..... about a 1000 miles from it. so i cant say i know for sure where the relay is, but if you think its miss.... could be. i think if i remember correctly there should be two round relays in the fuse block a flasher and horn..... the flasher is the top one. if that makes sense.

your horn relay is missing. its the three legged one. the reason its gone might be that the diode under the tape is shorted and caused the horn to blow all the time . i may have a spare but you should be able to find one closer. i just had this problem last week. thanks. mark

Want to say thanks to everyone. I found a cucv in a local junkyard, the relay was missing in it too.

Im going to see if they'll let it go, I need to get new batteries and alternators as well as some new rubber. Luckily, the people who had it before me, installed a Reese hitch, power brake booster.

Looking to get 9.00-1600 power kings

well, went to inspection and they didn't check a thing :O. I hooked a horn up from a Kia and hard wired the battery and an autozone horn switch and that will work for now. Don't bash me on the rust lol, it's a northern truck and the worst patch is in the drives floorboard. should be an easy fix I hope, I'll just get a piece of flat steel and patch her in, and she'll be good as new. here are some pics. as of late, the only prob outta her is that she wont shift into third, so I'm looking to have it serviced or possibly rebuilt.

pics tomorrow

bought some new nice bias ply tires
two new batteries (950cca)
a headache rack
and some 5% tint

I traded my Springfield XD40 for some work to be done
including teardown of intake etc, tracing all fuel line leaks, checking injectors, replacing glow plugs, replacing oil cooler lines, drivers ball joint (sleeves?),and misc crud.

Runs great and strong, just needs a good crank when under 40 degrees out
