Hey there! I'm new to this site, but I've been interested in military vehicles for a while now, and might eventually get my hands on a Deuce or the likes once I'm out of high school.

For me, I guess I'm fascinated by how overbuilt MVs are compared to 'regular', 'sane' vehicles. All of my friends don't understand why I'm into big diesels instead of lean, mean, going nowhere in a hurry machines, but hey, I say it's their loss in insurance costs for hot rods. :p

One of the things I'm concerned about with owning a Deuce or other MV is the maintenance side of things. I'm mechanically inclined-having experience running mills and lathes-but big trucks are a breed of their own, or so I've heard. One of the reasons I joined this forum is so I can get an idea of what would be involved in owning and keeping a Deuce in top running shape for years to come.

Nice to meet you,
-Jeremy

Welcome. You will love a deuce down the road. They are really pretty basic and simple, but being a larger truck, the parts are quite heavy. Extra caution needs to be taken to safetly handle those heavy parts. About everything you could ever think of about a deuce is covered on this site. So what part of Mn you from?

Yeah, I had a few laughs at all the warnings about heavy parts in a few of the Deuce TMs I brushed through, but what else do you expect out of a 6 ton truck?

I'm towards central MN, about an hour west of Minneapolis.

Welcome, You have mechanical aptitude, that's all it takes, well except money too and patience and time and tools and did I say patience and time? ..... Zimmerman area here.

Hey Maxspeed, there's an A2 at the Jeep/Chrysler dealer in Burnsville right above Yellow freight, they're out of their minds wanting 7K for it, but supposedly it has a cummins in it, then again they had in their ad it was an automatic and PS, I emailed them and the PS and auto weren't accurate. Would have been worth it if the ad was correct. Probably doesn't even have a cummins......
