Hey there! I'm new to this site, but I've been interested in military vehicles for a while now, and might eventually get my hands on a Deuce or the likes once I'm out of high school.
For me, I guess I'm fascinated by how overbuilt MVs are compared to 'regular', 'sane' vehicles. All of my friends don't understand why I'm into big diesels instead of lean, mean, going nowhere in a hurry machines, but hey, I say it's their loss in insurance costs for hot rods.
One of the things I'm concerned about with owning a Deuce or other MV is the maintenance side of things. I'm mechanically inclined-having experience running mills and lathes-but big trucks are a breed of their own, or so I've heard. One of the reasons I joined this forum is so I can get an idea of what would be involved in owning and keeping a Deuce in top running shape for years to come.
Nice to meet you,
-Jeremy
