Well, I went and lot my mind and picked up a Deuce. Its a 1971 AM General M35A2 Multi-fuel turbo diesel with 39k miles and 1300 hours on the turbo. I'm currently under orders to drop off all three of my girls at school and daycare in it ASAP or face the consequences... :twisted:

short term plans:
* fix the seatbelts (for the girls of course)
* figure out how to mount the license plates (already been spoken to by a sheriff deputy after he admired the truck) [any suggestions on how to mount front and rear plates on a M35 short of drilling holes in the bumpers?]
* thorough check of the brakes (they feel good and work great, but I'm checking anyways)
* full liquid and filter change out.
* snow chains

Mid-term term plans:
* sand, prime and paint
* cover for the cargo area
* big snow plow :grin:

Eventually:
* Super sixes
* M109 or other van body for a camper conversion...

btw I've been lurking for a couple of days and picking up a TON of useful information. This is a great site and you guys are awesome. I'd be totally lost if I hadnt found this place. Thanks a ton.

btw2 hopefully the pic with the whole crew (minus the wife who wont be seen with it) attached ok.

Howdy Neighbor! You might want to hold off mounting those plates. There is Legislation in the works right now, to allow us to use our truck ID numbers as our license number, and no plates have to be displayed. Welcome to the site!

Follow those orders private- or you'll end up in the enlisted mens barracks...

I'll bet your kids will love that deuce.

Welcome- good to see we're adding to the ranks... 'west of the Mississippi'

Raised in the South Denver area (University Hills). Be sure to put a light on the rear license plate holder or you will get a ticket.......don't ask me how I know this.

That would be awesome. I'll stick the plate in the front window and cross my fingers that they actually get something right for once and pass it. :-D

They rode in the back when I test drove it and the first things out of their mouths was the demand to drive them to school in it... :roll:

And then when they saw I'd gotten the plates they asked if I was driving them the next day. I think that they may actually enjoy it more than I do. Go figure. :-D
