Newbie wanting a M1008?

So im a newbie ready to take the plunge on a M1008 and I would like to know if there are any discernible differences between the different years that makes one better than another 84 vs 85 vs 86?

I see prices all seem to be pretty close whether it is a restored/rebuild truck or a beat up rusted hulk

All of the years use parts from the '84 models. They should be same, or least they started out the same... You never know what the PO has done to the truck.
