Also, the original front drive shaft was reused, is that ok, as it was a tight fit length wise.
If by "tight fit" you mean that the drive shaft really is too long, no, that is not okay at all. Should the drive shaft ever bottom out, you'd quickly find the weak link in the transmission case/adapter/transfer case area.

Ok, it is to long. Can I cut on the shaft, or is it a machine shop job? I'm guessing machine shop as the tube likely needs cutting.
You can cut it yourself, and weld it back together yourself. That part is easy. But you'll have to take it to a competent shop to have it balanced afterwards.
Also, keep in mind that you can't just lop it off somewhere in the middle of the tubing - well, you could, but shouldn't. Instead, grind down the weld at the yoke and separate it there. Clean up the areas that will be joined, and weld it up. Needless to say, pay attention to the phasing, and try getting things aligned as good as possible.

Don't even waste your time trying this. The driveline machine shops have specialized machines to keep perfect alignment and balance. They cut the drivelines on a lathe, (not with a grinder) and weld them up perfectly square. If you weld the yoke just one degree out of phase with the other you will get vibrations. Leave this to the professionals.
