Number stenciled on air cleaner

Howdy all, hope everyone is enjoying summertime and is ready for Independence Day.

My recently acquired m1009 has 1-08 stenciled on air cleaner and rear inner fender wells. I have not seen the number anywhere else, but havent done too much more looking or work to it aside from pressure washing it as I have been too busy with work.

Does anyone know why or what it means?
