oil filter conversion question

how do the different types of filter conversions "seal" to the motor?

I assume that the OD Iron setup uses the same gasket as stock since it uses modified cannisters.
What about....

My sets also use the use the stock gaskets. They are pretty reliable if installed with care, so why change them.

OD Iron's setup uses a gasket, not the stock o-ring. See the picture below...
