How long 'should' it take for oil pressure to build when cold starting a multifuel and what should it build to??? ALso... previuos owner has been running 15W40.. do I need to change to straight 30W?

Thanks

15W40 will do you fine. Expect 10 to 14 seconds without oil pressure upon startup. Although this is not good, it's normal.

yea,Just don't touch the throttle till the oil pressure is up and the engine has run for about a minute.I let wrecker fire mine up yesterday and he have it throttle right off the bat.I about freaked when I heard the turbo squeel cause of no oil film.Atleast I think it was turbo.I know something squeeled. But,normal for my truck is fire it up and the OP needled is free floating(bouncing around on Zero) then 1 second later it is like it got a Viagra cause it stops moving and sits on Zero.10 seconds or so later it shoot to 60PSI cold idle or 30PSI Hot Idle.I can fire it up and not even have to look at the gauge to know when I have pressure.I can hear it.The turbo has a higher pitched whistle and suddenly when oil hits the bearings it goes to a lower pitched sound.

:ditto:
Also, try to refrain from pushing in on the clutch, the thrusts don't like no/low oil pressure either

If mine sits about a week it took, at idle, about 20 seconds. I say 'took' because last night I added an accumulator to try and correct this. Other are using prelubers, or discussing the prelube issue in a different thread.

Mine also gets quieter after gauge takes off. It did this before the turbo was added. JimK
