It is the old apple and oranges question.

For me, it would have less value because I work my trucks, so the newer the better. From a "collector" standpoint, the older trucks are probably more rare therefore possibly more valuable to them.

As to your truck, the re-power would possibly compromise the value to a purist collector...... unless the re-power was part of a government program which made the truck maybe more rare and thus desirable. i.e. aftermarket Shelby mustangs.....

Therefore, you have to define "what you have" as to your truck and then define your market to determine if it is more valuable then later models.

The newer trucks are worth more to the average collector. Eventually, people may place a higher value on a truck that is original and has not been upgraded. However, today, people are paying large sums for mid-80s deuces because they are the newest (excluding the A3s) and presumably will have the least wear and tear. I've seen a couple of 1987 M35A2Cs bring over $6,000...at auction (one of our members paid $15K for a pristine 1987 deuce with all of the build and maintenance paperwork...try getting that much for an original gasser...ain't gonna happen). I agree with JOHNNYREB...the older trucks have value, but the added value lies in their original condition. A repowered truck is not worth any more or less than a mid-70s truck. My $.02...

6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other. With that said, I'd trade my 72 for a 52 repower any day of the week and twice on Sunday. No good reason for it, just my taste.
