First off I've done the searches and can't find a complete answer. Here's the deal I got my CUCV with only one alternator (passenger side). Which went bad almost right away (NAPA bench checked it) replaced it w/ a NAPA 213-4022 80 amp, which didn't last very long either. What do I need to get two alternators on this truck and everything running right? Part numbers? Please help I'm depending on this thing as my shop truck and work isn't getting done before the snow falls! lol. Thanks in advance guys.

What vehicle do you have?

When you got your vehicle, was one alt missing or was it converted to 12volts and now only needs one alt?

When you replaced the alt, did everything work properly, until the new alt died?

Everything seemed to be ok for less then a 1000 miles. I have an 86' dually, 14 bolt rear/dana 60 front, stake body not sure what the mill spec is for that. I'm new to these mil trucks. As far as a 12V conversion, I'm not a 100% on that, the wiring is a mess but functioning. I definitely am missing the bracket for the drivers side alt and there is no apparent harness either. I have what I think is a new 12V starter (NAPA supplied, prob civ version) the original one shelled out pretty soon after I got it to my shop.

Post some pics and the first 11 digits of the VIN. Is there a metal dataplate rivited to the drivers door post? If so post the model type and the Unit Number

You may not have a CUCV but a regular truck that the military bought.

That napa number is a 12v civvy unit and if the starter is a civvy unit also, then the truck is 12v.
