WE are doing our annual event called "To Defend and Protect", honoring the service of General Sam Bell Maxey (C.S.A.) in the Mexican American War as a U.S. Army Officer and in the Civil War as a Confederate Army Office, AND....
all the military presonnel who have served Texas and the United States from the Mexican American War up to today. We are looking for Union Army, Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII and Korean and Vietnam War impressions for our living history presentation, and military vehicles from WWI up to today..... This is a chance to help educate the public as regards both the importance of military service and military vehicles in our nation's history......!

WE are looking for historic military vehicles to display here for the public, we are also expecting a visit from the Sam Rayburn VA Center Veterans from Bonham, TX to tell their stories, we will have a Confederate Infantry and Artillery Camp set up, we may have an 1860's Base Ball game staged if we can get a team of period Base-Ballers, and tours of the 1868 Sam Bell Maxey House and Grounds. There will be lectures and programs on General sam Bell Maxey, The World War II Army Camp and P.O.W. Facility Camp Maxey, and WWII Women's history. The Program Hours are 1000 to 1600 (10:00 aM TO 4:00 pm) CT.

PARIS, TX has many good hotels, antique shops, restaurants, historic structures, and we are near Camp Maxey (IRTC Center WWII and TX ANG training Center today), within about 120 miles from Dallas and 100 miles from Texarkana, there are several other state parks and lakes nearby for camping, fishing and boating.:-D
