Hi. I'm trying to find the part number for my alternator on a 1985 m923 5ton truck. It won't charge my batteries. They're brand new. If anyone has the part number I would appreciate it. Thanks

Have you tested/diagnosed it, as per the -TM?

Sure would suck to change it if it is not the problem.

I'm currently charging the batteries. Once they're all charged I was gonna test the alternator. I just wanted to find the alternator locally incase it needs to be replaced

A stock alt is not something you usually find locally.

I heard napa carries the alternator. Don't mean they have it on the shelf. Even if they have to order it. Etc. I just wanna have it ready....so I know where I can get it from. The batteries I just got brand new last summer. Just recently they stopped holding a charge. Don't know what else it could be, besides the alternator.

There is a data plate on the alt. It should have the manufacturer and part number.

Follow the TM troubleshooting, it could be as simple as a bad ignition switch.

In the Tech Manual section, top header bar.

You have a M939 series truck.
