The M60 is big, huh!? Did you know it has a multifuel engine? The scorpion looks like it has regular tires for the road wheels. Nice armor!

The M60 is big, bigger than an Abrams (the Abrams weighs more due to the depleted uranium skirt, but is actually lower to the ground). The Scorpion does ride on road tires, that require inflation, like any car tire would. Gives the track a really smooth ride, and helps absorb the shock of the cannon recoil.

The M56 Scorpion was light enough to be air dropped from a flying boxcar aircraft, if you've seen footage it is neat! Just so info if you didn't know.

RE: M56

See my above comment on the size of the M60 vs. the Abrams. The Abrams is not as "big" or high as the M48/M60 series was, but the Abrams is longer, and some of its armor is denser (i.e. depleted uranium) so the Abrams does weigh more, despite being slightly shorter than the M60 series.

RE: M56

Here's the numbers, M60 series vs. M1 Abrams. Numbers are approximate, and depend slightly on vehicle version and cargo setup.

M-60 series tanks
---------------------
Weight: 54 tons
Length: 22 feet
Width: 12 feet
Height: 11 feet

M-1 Abrams series
----------------------
Weight: 67 tons
Length: 26 feet
Width: 12 feet
Height: 8 feet

While Continental V-12's were built in several configurations our M60/M60A1's were powered by the AVDS-1790-2 and AVDS-1790-2A engines which were to be run on fuel oil, diesel,40 cetane rating.

I went back just for fun and took the video camera. I just enjoy seeing these things...that M60 is pretty cool. Wish I could see inside!

Yep, thats the way they were built. The A3's also have the T-bar steering. Try driving a M47, you use a joystick......very interesting to drive.
