So while helping a buddy today, I shattered part of the housing of the rear winch on my wrecker. I was too pist to look at it tonight, but I think it might be the brake band housing. I hope that is seperate from the rest of the housing and I will not have to get a whole new one. Pics tomorrow. SUCK!

Page 413 of TM9-8028 has a pic of the winch. P is the automatic brake adjusting bolt. I think I cracked the top of that housing. ANyone know if that box is seperate from the rest of the winch housing?

Gimp, the square houseing unbolts so its not the whole side of the gear case...

The winch wasn't in motion, the boom was.

Maybe the hook or sheave block swung into the winch by accident...

Hope its nothing serious.

Thought about it, don't really like that answer. I was worried that it migh screw up the rating of the winch if it were part of the gear housing, but it sounds like it isn't. Pics(and story) in a bit.
