Power steering pump bracket hardware

I noticed today I'm missing the nuts that hold the top of my power steering pump bracket on. The parts list in the TMs just describes them as "nut", and searching the NSNs and part numbers don't get me anything either.

Anyone know what size/thread they're meant to be? The TM also shows two nuts, is that correct?

I'm in the UK and so I don't have a lot of imperial hardware just lying around, so I want to make sure I'm ordering the right ones before I order them.

I got my TMs from the forum, there's only one diagram in them for the bracket and it doesn't specify if it's for the M1010 or otherwise, but that's good to know.

The bigger problem is still what kind of nut it's meant to be.

What you need to look at is the UOC. Usable on Code. That tells you what part goes on what truck. So to make it easy, tell me what TM number you are looking at. Then I can look at the part number/NSN and maybe even tell you what kind of Size/Thread it is.

This is all from TM 9-2320-289-34P.

If #3 is for the M1010 only then it can safely be ignored, I've already tried looking up the NSN for #4, but I couldn't find anything particuarily useful.

Interesting as pic 104 in the tm does show what you have here. I'd try nut number 2 and see if the thread is the same. All the pumps I've done those nuts got mixed up and never had a problem with them being different thread.

Ok, but what is nut number 2? The TMs aren't particuarily useful in this instance because all they say is "NUT", and you can't just plug the NSN into google and buy a handful. I can't even find civilian pump bracket mounting hardware for sale.

The UOC is listed in the front of your TM. Would not hurt to look at it. I am going to assume, something I hate to do, but assume your truck is a M1008A1,Type “B” Cargo, Troop Seat. UOC of 208. If not then its a UOC of 194. Look at the description . It tells you that Item# 3 is used on almost all the models. And both the M1008 models are listed there. It also tells you the ONLY model that needs Item# 4, is the M1010, Type “C” Ambulance

You are correct, it's an M1008. I appreciate the advice, but it's not terribly helpful as you're telling me that I need to search for the part that doesn't have an NSN.

Both of those nuts thread onto the same stud, so either one would be functionally identical. I can't order either of them via the NSN or part number, so it doesn't really matter which one I get the specs for.

If someone's got one of those nuts lying around can they please just run a bolt of a known size through the nut and tell me what size is it so I can order one. This really isn't a complicated question.

I have been reliably informed that they're M10x1.5. Didn't expect them to be metric, but there you go.

I have some of those lying around so I'll update this post later this week if it fits.

Strange that it's not in the book, I forgot that the regular part number is just a GM part number and you can look those up and found it immediately. It's been a while since I've had to try to find anything using those numbers.

Everything that bolts to the 6.2 engine is metric. The rest of the truck is a guess.

M10 x 1.5 sounds correct. There is a nut on the other side of the water pump holding the solid fuel line clamp. You can remove it with no chance of causing any leaks easily. It should be the same size and just thread right onto the power steering mount if you want to check and verify the threads.

I always place a flat washer on the water pump stud, so the flange nut gets an even surface to tighten on. Otherwise, you tighten the outer nut against the bracket, and it wears into the hex of the water pump stud and makes a gouge in the slide area and makes adjustment harder. I hope I relayed that tip in an understandable text. Voted. Be Safe and Have a Great Day.
