D-cell adapters for the PRC-25 and '77 are available on the auction sites. IMHO that's the only way to go. I use the adapter and Alkaline D-cells (not rechargable) but rechargable D-cells could be substituted. My usage is low, just a little testing occasionally, or a demo at a display, etc.

PRC68.com has the adapters for the -25/-77. There is also someone on evil-bay in Poland that has an adapter, but by the time you get it here the price is the same. I have three from PRC68.com for my radios.

Beware I purchased one of the overseas adapters and internal parts were missing, I would purchase the US ones.

I found a guy who makes them Calif.
They are pricy but they do look like they are well made.
