All,

I'm in Chambersburg on Business on Thursday of this week (12/20). My business will be very short, so I'm scheduled to preview in Chambersburg that day. THere are a ton of trucks coming up this/next week. At last count, approx. 86 deuces, 20 or so 5 tons, and a myriad of other vehicles. I don't have all day, so I cannot do detailed preview on everything. I'm for the most part not in the market for anything as I have no cash, but will be making a general sweep. If you have something you need previewed really bad that a general description won't do, then I may be able to do it for you. I plan on making some general comments and posting general pictures about the lot that may discuss things not posted under GL description but cannot afford the time to preview every lot #.

So let me know if you have some special requests. Please post the sale and lot number. I'll do my best to find it. With as many vehicles as they have listed for this sale, all of GL's trucks will not be in the same location. So it may be difficult to find.

Regards,

Jake

Lotsa stuff in Chambersburg

I previewed the best I could with no specific direction given by any particular member. It was overwhelming to say the least. GL has over 50% of the lot right now and there were trucks all over. Trucks run the entire range from piles to rebuilt. Deuces to 5 tonners, wreckers to cargos, etc. Nothing too unique under GL control. Possibly a couple of field kitchens on 1.5 ton trailers coming up. Tarps bad on those, rest looks good. Lots of trailers and they appear to be in good to great shape. Some rebuilt. Lots of other trucks not in GL control yet.

GL at this installation doesn't allow free rome any longer. And you can't try to start trucks. Must have escort all the time, unless you are known and honest. Guess there were problems with people trying to start them and not knowing what they are doing and almost caused accidents to DRMO personnel.

Coolest thing we saw was two MUTTs in DRMO, and we, probably illegally, got to crawl around a couple of tracked armored personnel carriers. Two closed, two open. Don't think they'll make it to GL anytime soon. MUTTs are complete and have been there for a while. Lots of parts with them. I have pictures I'll try to post in the morning. Not sure how many pics I have of the tracked carriers though.

If there is a particular lot that you are interested, please feel free to PM me as I may have taken an extra look at it. I have a ton of pictures from the day. We were there for about 4 hours or so looking around.

Happy Holidays.

Jake

The DRMO folks were trying to find a museum to take the MUTTS since they will not be able to sell them except as scrap metal.

RE: Lotsa stuff in Chambersburg

That is one reason I always go in uniform to the GL sites on base. I have been able to walk around and make pretty detailed inspections of specific vehicles. There are way too many to try and go through PMCS on them all. It is definatly worth the look if you are going to bid on any truck. I miss the days when the GL photos used to show the Tach indicating the engine idling or smoke coming from the stack. It is nice to see them put truck runs or truck does not start but a detailed inspection should be allowed especially if you let them know in advance that you are coming to look at a vehicle you intend to bid on. I think only a blind man would marry a woman he has not seen and I bet he did a lot of feeling first.
