Kevin, it's the drive shaft between the two rear axles. If not, they will be fighting each other at every turn and also if the tires are not exactely the same size.
You will need the front wheel drive from time to time since the "one axle drive" is not so good on any questionable surface, wet grass, slippery wet pavement etc.

Kevin, find one of the front axle drive flanges, then remove one of the tandem's axle, and bolt the front flange back in. You have basicly done the same thing, and don't have to crawl under the truck for 6wd. Or you could put one of those lockouts fron Ouverson on. I think you have to get a new axle to do that.

im driving my duece to aberdeen again this year, every little bit helps, its about a 4 hour drive, to dover, where im meeting up with(everybodys favorate ebay seller kcgonzo)and lamar,and his wife jewll,
