Radiator color?

The big white FedEx truck brought my NOS Gasser radiator Saturday. (Thanks again Ziggy!) It is still sealed with some kind of goo and paper combination and it is gloss black. I have to weld the spring mount to it since this is a true early Gasser version with the solid mount.

Once I am done welding, I will need to paint the mount area. What color should the radiator be? It showed up gloss black. Black is supposed to help the heat transfer process and all that. But, does it really matter?

Thanks.

Every radiator I have ever bought has always come painted black. Being in the fleet business I have bought a lot of them. Even the repair shop paints them black. It does help with heat transfer. The only ones that are natural are the aluminum cores.

Any duce I've seen the back of the radiator, the part in the engine compartment, was black and the front was what ever color the truck had been repainted. i.e. earth brown, sand, forest green etc.

The radiator in my junk is the same color as the motor, OD, I think.

Thanks guys. Looks like my radiator will have to get a light shot of green on the outside and maybe around the shroud too.
