Bead locks. Was supposed to be a low budget replacement for combat rims. Military quit using them almost immediately. Amazing to see them still on a truck. They were only installed on the early 1951 trucks.

So is that some sort of clip that slips in behind the bead and clips over the outside of the ring? I bet thats a PITA to install.

My '53 USMC truck has a rim/tire with those clips on it. The tire has a 1953 date stamp on it. I may keep that assembly as an artifact.....
