Hopefully i will be leaving in the morning,(as early as i can muster myself out of bed) to pickup my 68 m45 firetruck.. Although i originally planned on taking my duece to drag it back, i have decided to take the wrecker i drive for work.
As long as the snow holds off, and i do not get busy at work tonight, there will be no problem leaving early. Am also taking my 12 year old son with me,(already got him hooked) i think that he may be even more excited than i am. will post pics of the trip, and truck tomorrow.

Eddie, how far do you have to go to get it? Good luck and post pics when you can.

well, i finally got her here in evansville, thought it would never happen. now i have to get the tank cleaned out, change all the filters and fluids, and of cource, the brakes do not work. if i ever get one that is road worthy when i purchase it, i will probably die from shock. never ever let anyone pull out a duece for you if they have never touched one before.

The truck you have is called a M530B in the military. If it had a small turret on it, she would be a M530C. That is what I drove alot while I was a young Marine. I loved that truck. When we were told to turn them in I was lucky. I was able to get several manauls and some gear. They had us pull the gear off the trucks and send it to DRMO as scrap.
I have 2 WWII Marine 4x4 Crash trucks in my collection here. I display them at our reunions. If you ever find your self in a weak moment and want to get rid of her, let me know.

I bid against you on this one. I also wanted a hard top and a winch. I think you had me at around the $1100 mark.

Eddie,
If it helps any, there is a guy in NY that has a top. It's a fiberglass one, so I'm not sure if you are interested.

His name is Todd. Look for my thread titled "three deuces in NY" under 'deuces' (where else?).

Also, da sgt has one. It looks to be in nice shape. BUT, it's in Rifle, Colorado, so shipping might be a killer.

I just contacted da sgt as a back up plan to Todd. I'll find out what he wants for the top. jim

Eddie, if desert rat and you have a something already worked out that is ok, as you are a long way from NC. But, if it falls though, could you let me know and I will try to see if I could find a fellow crash crewman to get the truck and save it as a M530.
Thanks.
