In preparation for the cross country trip, I decided to borrow the almost new tires from the laundry trailer to get rid a a nasty shimmy.
Here are several images of the procedure, took about two hours.

Knuckleboom + hydraulic outriggers = success

A test drive later went very well, no shimmy what so ever. Still got to fix that stuck brake shoe, though. Many thanks to Kenny (Recovry4x4) for sending spare parts. I owe you...again. :)

hey... you can now answer (yet another) question for me.. How close do the tires get to rubbing on anything up front on those "normal" rims?

Bjorn, the box went out at noon today via USPS. It was sent Priority with delivery confirmation. Inside is one new wheel cylinder and one rebuild kit. Good stuff to have on a trip!

Thanks again Kenny! The parts will come to good use. The brake drum got smoking hot during the test run yesterday, so it's coming apart as soon as the stuff arrives. :)

Joel, the trucks were designed with 1100's in mind, as you know, there is plenty of space, haven't measured the clearance, but there has never been a problem. Snow chains go on very easily with more clearance in the back, than with the duals. The chains on the dual 900's often hit the leaf springs...

Bjorn, is there anything your truck can't do?!

Gotta get me one of those cranes......... [thumbzup]

Bjorn, When you changed the tires did you actually touch the impact or breaker bar or do you have a robotic articulating "hand" that you install on the end of your boom? rofl
