I was wondering about the size of the magnesium runflat from the older 8 bolt style beadlocks comapred to the one or two peice rubber runflats of the newer 12 bolt style wheels. Are they both the same width. I seem to remember reading in one of the TMs that early 12 bolts had magnesium runflats but were phased out and replaced with the rubber hutchinson style units. Can you run the magnesium runflats in a 12 bolt wheel? Seems to me they are much easier to work with. My first teardown and assembly only took about an hour on my 8 bolt wheels. Also does anyone know why they got rid of the magnesium runflats anyway? Too expensive? Fire hazard? Inferior? Just curious.
