Safety chains when pintle towing with a M931 tractor

Just curious what the SOP is for attaching the safety chains to the rear of a tractor? I hitched my M105 behind my M931a2 and realized the hooks on the safety chains don't fit over the rear shackles and I don't see anywhere else to attach them. Obviously I can make extensions and adapters to make the connection, just curious what SOP was in the military and what you all have done. My preference would also be to not modify the trailers' chains as I have more than one. Thanks!

Like 98G said, un pin the shackle then slide the trailers hook over it.
Or put a crow bar into the trailers hook and open it up a little
