Never thought much about it until a friend mentioned it to me, that weak batteries can kill your alternator. They will make your alt work extra hard. I ran my truck for some time on batteries that were only fair, and the gage was always showing the alt working hard. Finally got some new batts at Wal-Mart (they work great, even in cold weather) and now the gage is hitting that little white spot after only 10-15 miles. Save that expensive alternator, and replace poor batteries.............new batteries are much cheaper, and they need replaced anyway
