Truck sitting in Binghamton for sale, has blown engine, says has hole in block but I couldnt find it. has the GMC inline 302 six. no tailgate, home made roof, no winch, bed is on it but slightly bent. No pto on it. He wants $800.

I'd talk him down a little, but it's worth it. Engines are still available if you look around, and it looks pretty complete. Shouldn't be too hard of a resto. Good find!

$800 seems a bit steep. I paid $50 for one in similar shape, but with a straight bed and tailgate, and $750 for one driveable with a dump bed.

Yeah, the real part! When I bought the $50 truck at a public auction, they actually had a few trucks they couldn't get a bid on.

Ditto that - truck like that is worth $250 in scrap metal alone. If you got one for $50, with a free tow to your place, the seller actually PAID you to take it away.

Naw, I had to haul that one myself. We're too far from any decent scrap yards to get anywhere near $250 for a truck. By the time you factor in shipping or hauling yourself and tire and fluid disposal and possibly cutting up in manageable sizes, it just ain't worth it.

I wish I could be so lucky... I'd take 'em all! My yard would be full of trucks = Instant truck parts business and/or big collection. They're probably worth ~$500 each in scrap steel.

There was a thread on old tires awhile back. Even if it looks good, a blowout from a dry rotted tire at road speed is an adventure I try to pass on. Check farm auction listings for old trucks. They may not be listed as military, but as Reo or GMC etc. A large vegetable grower closed his operations in this area and I saw 25 -30 gas M35's go for under $600 each, most around $400 and almost all were roadable. If I hear of any more auctions like this I'll definately let you know.

Thanks 56.It would be helpful to many of the men on this site. Some of the farmers and quarry workers that put these up for sale just figure its an old truck, and dont know they are antique collectors items.
