Smoke'n Oil

I thought smoke was coming from stuff spilled on the engine. But no the oil is smoking. The only thing I can think is blow-by because some rings are not sealing. I would bet some GL rep sprayed starter fluid in without pulling the card and blew the rings. The oil was not grey or white so I do not think water is getting in the oil. I am ready to pull the engine.

Has anybody ever had smoke coming from the oil or know what would cause it.
