So is there any diffinitive transmission replacement for the A3?

Been a while since I took the deuce(A3) for a spin, the 5 tons sure do make the deuce an old hag. Winding the Cat out at 50MPH, It's just screaming for another gear.
anybody figure out a replacement that doesn't cost two arms and two legs yet?

what about a M939 transfer-case? it has a .75(ish) overdrive... i know its larger, but might work?
