So... spray or brush?

Just curious, what are anyone's oppinions on spraying versus brushing for painting a deuce? I'm almost thinking that spraying might be easier, but given the time period ('71), I know that brushing would be more accurate, and might not be that hard. Any suggestions, experiences, etc?

Right now I'm thinking about getting some cans of paint, and then a few spraycans as well. I can brush/roll most, and use the spraypaint to get to the hard to reach areas. Is this a horrible plan, or workable?

I would spray. But when it comes to being easier I'm not sure what your trying to do<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug"> Painting is a skill be it brush or spray. Even the rattle can job takes some level of skill<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="Wink"> It really depends on the prep you put in before you paint. When I was younger Earl Schibe said I'll paint any car for $19.95<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shock.gif" alt="Shock"> And thats exactly what you got<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_puke.gif" alt="Puke"> I on the other hand disassemble, sandblast, beat, bang, heat or what ever it takes till I'm happy<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"> NO BONDO on my truck! Your thoughts on brush on being more accurate<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_question.gif" alt="Question"> I have Never seen a factory brush on paint job?? The brush-on comes later, and boy have I seen some nasty jobs<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_thumbs_dwn.gif" alt="Thumb Down"> Bottom line is whatever makes you happy with the amount of time and effort your willing to put into the job<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="Wink">

Well, as far as brushing being more accurate, I'll put it this way: my dad was in the Army at about the same time period as we are painting, and told me what he saw were mostly brush jobs.

And that is really what I'd like to do: make it look like the typical in-service truck of that era. Which means I'm also not looking to make a "best of show" truck. I want it to look good, but I'm perfectly happy sanding out the problem spots, primering and painting. I'll even bondo a little!<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_disapprove.gif" alt="Disapprove"> I've got my whole life, just not for this!<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif" alt="Big Smile">

So I'm putting in the time and effort to make it look GOOD, but I'm not about to completely disassemble the truck for a paintjob. I think at the end of all this, it will at look accurate - in-service accurate, not right-off-the-line accurate. That's all I want.

I'll stick to my guns on brush vs spray! I don't have a "show" truck by far, all the spot welds, seam welds and some dings and dents are all there! Thats part of what MV's are all about! But to have even a fair paint job on my 69 M35 I have to sandblast. It came out of service in 2002, and thats a lot of "brush" jobs<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shock.gif" alt="Shock"> Like I said "depends on how much time and effort" Your willing to put in. I guess thats why I joined MVPA. My choice is to spend the time and effort (trust me I have little spare time). You would be suprised how fast and easy it is to take apart the hole front end for sanding and painting<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="Wink"> Just my<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_.gif" alt="My 2 Cents"> Ya asked for a opinion and thats mine<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="Wink">

I guess I'll just have to see how this works out for me. Like you said, all personal preference.
