Softer suspension on M998 (? )

I have a stock 1989
I was wondering if anyone has changed out there rear springs or shocks to soften the ride on the road?
Thanks for any input or where to get parts to change out my stock ones

I know it's not a viable solution. But mine rides more comfortably compared to what it was when it was a 2 man soft top to a 4 man slantback/turret. They simply sprung them heavy to be able to handle the weight of any configuration. I'd suggest lighter springs and new shocks in the rear at least. A lot cheaper that way lol.

You should not just change the rear without also changing the front with matched caliber springs.

Why not? The weight of the front end isn't changing.
Hard front springs with soft rear springs make for an uncomfortable ride, IMHO. I prefer matching it all up.

Front springs move the rear do not ! I am experimenting now but from research , cut down dodge 1500 springs should be close

I have a M1045A2 that I ran across the scales at work weighing in at around 7500 pounds. I have a friend with a 4 man, hard door 998 around 5k. He is amazed and jealous how much better mine rides than his does with the softer suspension. Throw some weight in it!

I'd love to soften the ride on my M1165, but trying to read multiple threads with conflicting information is frustrating.

Do the Armada springs work on an M1165?
What year armada springs, or better yet, what part number
Do I need to cut them if I don't want to lift the truck?
My truck sits high because there's not much weight without the armor, so will aramada springs leave it where it is now, make it higher, lower?
What's not level that I would want to level the truck? It seems pretty level already.

You want 4x4 rear springs. 16.5" tall. You will need a grinder to both cut and grind. You will need a set of daystar 1" spacers for the rear to level it out as the rear mounts are taller. You will remove 1/6 to 1/3 of a turn of the rear spring and maybe 1/4 to half for the fronts. And viola you have the softest suspension setup in the country.

I believe someone posted that Armada springs are way too weak for ECV. When installed they collapsed IIRC.

Here's over a year of use on an 1151 with a steel rack on the back. We also weekly take it off road. The American springs are hot dipped which cause sagging. These are cold rolled which hold their dimensions better. I had several sets of springs made from titanium that are in the works as well.

I would like to say I just rechecked. Seems the A1 has underbody armor and other pieces of armor. My truck has no armor. But none the less the bare 51/52 is the same weight as the 65. Both of which is 1000 over the 998. The grey truck is a 998. It sits a little higher. The front is a coilover so ignore that.
